The World Champion San Francisco Giants wanted to create a ballpark destination to incite social connection, interaction and conversation amongst fans—a dynamic environment and tangible expression of what it means to be socially Giant. And with millions of followers on platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as well as a rapidly growing social media program, the organization knew it was time to deliver an in-park, thematic experience to empower its greatest advocates.
When the franchise selected Array Interactive, we knew we had to conceive something that was indicative of a World Champion. It had to feel like an exclusive invitation to become an active participant in @SFGiants social media conversations. It had to inform a new generation of fans eager to be a part of this storied franchise. Our strategic solution: create an entirely new way for fans to visualize what people—in the ballpark, around the Bay Area and around the world—were saying about the Giants. We architected and designed custom social visualizations to display real-time Twitter and Instagram posts from players, reporters, industry pundits and of course other fans. And while a dashboard kept record of followers across social media platforms, presented trending topics, and fan photos, a series of other features encouraged and rewarded participation.
