Boston Properties, one of the largest owners, operators and developers of commercial real estate in the nation, wanted to elevate one of its legacy shopping centers; an open-air mall in San Francisco, California called Embarcadero Center. The effort, led by renowned architectural firm, RTKL, defined new environmental design systems to enhance an antiquated customer experience. The firm partnered with Array to craft a custom, interactive way finding system that extended traditional signage to branded digital touch points.
Array concentrated on constructing an intuitive way to usher guests to retail, food and beverage, and desired service destinations. Navigating this complex environment consisting of four separate buildings, each with three floors, and separated by three busy San Francisco streets was of primary importance. Dynamic integration with transit and marketing event systems changed the way people find their way and renewed their perception of this fashion destination.
